Newbie
Hi. This is my first post... an introduction. =) I'm an 18 year old young woman. *waves*
I'm just... not interested in sex. At the same time, I would consider myself straight, because I have had romantic attractions to men and a few months back broke off a long-term relationship with a boy I really was in love with. But there's no sexual feeling there. I want to say hi to everyone, is all.

Asexuality in literature, again
I seem to remember a few posts a while ago about asexuality dealt with in literature, and outstanding examples of same. It just occurred to me when I went to see the new Sherlock Holmes movie today, then read some reviews to see how it went by the critics. One of their main criticisms was Holmes' romantic/quasi-sexual interest in the film being out of sync with the books, as the character is described as originally "asexual." Now I know sometimes anything short of nymphomania is decried as "asexual" in modern media, but it got me wondering about the examples of primarily asexual characters in books, possibly including the original Sherlock Holmes. At any rate, the romantic relationship in the movie never actually lead to any sex scenes, which is nice for me (not having to sit boredly through them as in most movies I can't fast-forward) and unusual in a lot of big Hollywood movies that seem to feel it's a prerequisite. Any Conan Doyle fans care to comment? |

Quick update
Hi all; Merry Christmas! Or Happy Holidays, if Christmas isn't your thing. ^___~ So, after missing my flight a few days ago, I'm glad to report that the rest of the day after that went smoothly--thank goodness for the airline lady who hooked me up with the modified itinerary, she was awesome. My flight to Houston was only, like, half full, and the flight to Austin was only about 3/4ths full, so, beyond the inherent awkwardness of an airplane ride, I wasn't uncomfortable. I even called the airline later to say they were doing a great job, and the lady I spoke with on the phone told me I made her day, which in turn made my day. <333 I wanted to get some of those Merlin episode reactions done while I'm here at dad and co.'s, but I'm staying in my little brother's room at the moment and it only has a Mac in it, which I barely know how to operate (just so you know how Mac-retarded I am, it took me about 5 minutes to figure out where the power switch was). The only PC in the house is my dad's computer, so I might try to use that to do the episode reactions on. Also, I just wanted to let anyone who's interested know that Backupify (a service that backs up your online accounts) is free until Jan. 31st. Talk to you all later! Current Mood:  hungry |
